Here Is a Safer Alternative to Ibuprofen!
Ibuprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. In addition, anti-inflammatory pain relievers such as ibuprofen are also referred to as ‘anti-inflammatories’ or NSAIDs.
Ibuprofen is often used to treat painful conditions, including pain after surgery, dental pain, migraines, menstrual pain, strains and sprains, arthritis, and more. It helps reduce inflammation and ease pain.
However, doctors commonly prescribe this type of painkiller for almost each symptom we have, including back pain, toothaches, headaches, and more.
Along with its useful effects, Ibuprofen can cause many adverse side-effects. It may result in severe stomach ulceration and bleeding. Over time it can be toxic to your heart muscle. If taken on a regular basis for an extended period of time, it might even lead to death.
In 2005, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration warned that taking NSAIDs, including ibuprofen elevated the likelihood of experiencing a heart attack and stroke.
The FDA’s warnings point out:
– Stroke and heart attack risk elevate even with short-term use, and the risk might start within several weeks of starting to take the drug.
– The risk elevates with higher doses of NSAIDs taken for extended periods of time.
– The risk is highest for patients with heart disease, although even those without heart disease might be at risk.
A more natural and safer way to ease the pain is by using turmeric. It’s a spice native to southern Asia with numerous health benefits. One of its most promising benefits is its ability to relieve pain more effectively than many pharmaceutical pain relievers.
A 2008 study showed that curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric, inhibited several pro-inflammatory pathways similar to those of many different pharmaceutical painkillers in a safer and more affordable way.
In a study published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, turmeric was found to help treat osteoarthritis.
The study involved 109 participants that had been diagnosed with osteoarthritis. Within a period of 6 weeks, some participants took 800mg of ibuprofen, whereas the others took 2,000mg of turmeric.
Over time, the level of pain was tested during bicycling, climbing stairs, and walking.
After 6 weeks, participants that took turmeric demonstrated better results compared to those that took ibuprofen.
